So since I last blogged, I moved my stuff up to Preston, then drove home again to south devon with some friends for a wedding. Had a barbeque with said friends, then drove to Derbyshire, again for the Stanton Lees Bible School my family go to every August bank holiday. (It’s where my parents first met about 35 years ago!)
I then came straight back up to Preston again… with almost another car-full of stuff, and moved in properly… actually getting the key to my room and settling in. My housemate Steph joined me and Rachel, and we then headed off to Forum 2010 at the Quinta in Shropshire where we spent the last five days sleeping in tents and hearing some amazing teaching from the Bible.
So just in case you don’t know, Forum is the annual gathering of CU leaders for Christian Unions from all over the UK. There were almost 1000 people there and it was such an amazing week.
Despite my love of UCCF (the Christian Union movement in UK) I wasn’t as excited as I thought I’d be to be going this year. I was a bit worried that the others from my CU might think I shouldn’t be there and that I was trying to take over or something. Saying it now sounds stupid, but that’s my mind for you!
It was a really great opportunity to get to know some of the freshers from last year who I hadn’t really had the chance to get to know before, and to be reminded again of the heartbeat of the Christian Union movement… living and speaking for Jesus.
There was teaching from Richard Cunningham, Mike Reeves, Jason Clarke, Vaughan Roberts and Graham Daniels, from a variety of passages looking at mission, perseverance suffering, the new creation…
A couple of highlights for me were the morning digging deeper track with Mike Reeves and Angus Moyes on ‘Secure in Our Saving God’, and a seminar/conversation between Clive Parnell and Francis Chan (author of one of my current reads: ‘Crazy Love’) on ‘Let Worship be the fuel for mission’s flame’. I might post some more blogs on those things later.
I also discovered a brilliant new Christian group who I think are touring with Francis Chan at the moment: The Rend Collective. Their gig was crazy fun and energetic, and their lyrics are beautiful. Really recommend them, I ahven’t listened to their recorded music yet though… hopefully they will be as brilliant on cd as they were live.

I’ll hopefully get the chance to write some more blogs about stuff I learnt when we get the internet actually in our house, until then… you can already download lots of the talks from www.uccf.org.uk/students/forum
