Camp GBU/Ichtus Vlaanderen

Last weekend there was another camp!! or "houseparty" as we english christians like to call them!!

this time it was a joint one between the two student movements in belgium, GBU (french speaking) and Ichtus Vlaanderen (Dutch speaking)

Photos that sum up the weekend:
first night meal... there were about 80 people there altogether (majority from Ichtus I think).. look there's me in my favourite chequered shirt! :) Sem and Samuel (stood up at the back) giving some comedy notices in a melange of french, dutch and english.
get to know you games... the guy in the middle is tim our IFES team leader (heh heh heh gutted :P)
more getting to know you, (me, lucy and a guy from the Ichtus staff called Sem organised the evening activities :) involving newspapers this time... actually some very impressive results!
saturday afternoon playing settlers (awesome game)... i think i was asleep on my crazy noisy bed though.
There were some meetings too...Erwin the GBU's general secretary (belgium's richard cunningham) spoke on Philippians, and that nice lady translated everything into dutch
Although to be honest, I was already finding it pretty hard to follow, before adding translations into the mix!
Saturday evening entertainments: acting out a film in a certain culture? Any guesses for this one?
...
..
.
Gladiator: British style. Yep... they were fighting with cups and teabags! genious!
Then came some spontaneous dancing on the part of the flemish..the rest of us made a feeble attempt at joining in, but really they were experts.
(It was like a ceilidh... with no caller!! they all just KNEW!..i was SO amazed!)
And here's the little chateaux where we stayed... after some humongous snowflakes Saturday night.

Sadly I have yet to receive the group photo, or to find any photographic evidence on facebook of the moment the ceiling collapsed in the main stairway whilst we were in discussion groups. Ahh moments to remember.... :)

  1. Oh wow, that looks like so much fun :) If you give me a heads up, I just may hop a plane to you so I can make the next one! Haha, just kidding...unless the Lord rains down plane tickets, of course. :)

The games and dancing looked like a blast. Christian Americans need to be that cool. :)
