i like to think of it as a good kind of jealous

Words can't really describe how much I wish I was in Preston right now! And unlike my usual thoughts along these lines, I am really not sad as such about not being there, but just crazy excited for my CU buddies and WISH I could be there in a happy kind of way because I know how AMAZING missions weeks are!

Yep... it's missions week at UCLan this week, you can keep up to date, as I'm doing, by their tweets and facebook page. And Michael Ots (the guy speaking) tweets too! (even though most of you who read this are probably THERE..jealous!) Last night he wrote:
"At quiz event at uclan in preston.Speaking in about 10 minutes. Packed out room. Please pray."
I nearly cried lol! There's such an awareness of needing to rely on God these weeks, the prayer meetings are brilliant because you can FEEL that everyone is really focussed and passionate about asking for God's help and guidance and seeing Him at work in peoples lives! It's just amazing to go out together on to campus, really united and seeking to glorify God and show people Jesus! And then to have rooms packed with students, really listening to the Gospel being faithfully preached... wow... there's actually nothing like it!

Please join in praying for them, and other CUs in the UK who are having missions weeks around this time, ones that I personally know of this week apart from UCLan are taking place at Swansea, Nottingham Trent and Liverpool Hope (although there are no doubt lots of others)

Here's a list of what's going down in Preston this week, and what happened last week in their "pre-mission" week too!

Tuesday 16th - text-a-pancake (put up posters in halls inviting people to text for a FREE pancake with one of a selection of toppings, and also if they want, to ask any question(s) they may have about God, religion, Christianity, Jesus etc... Someone makes it, delivers it and also gives the recipient a copy of Mark's Gospel).. quite simply my FAVOURITE evangelistic event- no preference as to toastie/pancake/doughnut varieties.

Thursday 18th - FREE Water Bottling at 53º - (standing outside the student club on it's biggest student night, giving free bottles of water to students leaving and copies of marks gospel, trying to have gospel conversations with those willing!)

Monday 22nd - Pub Quiz
Talk - FREE from Fear... The Perfect Storm

Tuesday 23rd - Salsa Dancing Class
Talk - neither facebook nor twitter tells me

Tuesday 23rd - Lunch Bar
Talk: What would Jesus say to an Earthquake Victim?

Wednesday 24th - Chocolate and Champagne Evening for the ladies, and I don't know for sure but maybe a football tournament at Preston Sports Arena for guys (and girls who fancy it..?)
Talk - something about "True Love" apparently...? for the girls
Talk - again unknown for Football Tournament

Thursday 25th - FREE (three..geddit?) Course Meal
FREE from Death ... Is Jesus Resurrection History or Hoax?

Thursday 25th - Lunch Bar
Talk: What Would Jesus say to Lindsay Lohan?

Friday 26th - Acoustic Night and Grill-a-Christian
I guess the grilling is instead of a talk... good idea for the last night I reckon! :)

They're also meeting for prayer every morning at 9.45am, flyering, FRYing and questionnairing between 11am-3pm (they've got a gazeeeeeeeeebo i believe and are BBQing it up every day)... what a FAB idea!! All students love free food, and they can come sit down and chat to someone about WHY we're doing it too!!

Ahh I'm SO excited. Please pray for them for BOLDNESS and COURAGE to speak the truth. Please pray that they'd have a real LOVE and COMPASSION for other students at UCLan and please pray above all that JESUS would just be made to look supremely GLORIOUS in EVERYTHING that they do! And please pray also for Michael Ots - he's doing 3 missions weeks in a row!! He tweeted on 3rd Feb: "Preparing 32 talks to give in the next 4 weeks!" Thank God for him and please pray that he will have bucketloads of energy and enthusiasm as he preaches the Gospel each and every day!!
