Here are some amazing stories from my google reader this week that I hope will encourage you, and above all make you want to praise God!
Molly Piper: (she is married to one of John Piper's sons, I know you're thinking I'm a crazy stalker but no... this lady is pretty amazing)..in fact WAIT...before you click that link, read her about page, then have a skim through some of her posts tagged 'Felicity'. THEN come back and click that link right there and praise God!
-------> also check out John and Noel Piper's posts about it. It's so wonderful to see the whole family''s JOY!
Superbowl Commercial: OK so I have absolutely zero idea about the superbowl, but here and there on blogs I heard quite a lot about this pro-life (i.e. anti-abortion) ad that a famous Christian american football player..(Tebow?) was doing for it. All very controversial. But check the link and try saying it wasn't worth it!
Child Sponsorship: disclaimer: I don't know much (if anything) about Compassion Ministires, or Catalyst Conferences, who they're run by, theological soundness or anything. But this is such an amazing video, emptied my tear ducts, how amazing that the guy who committed to sponsor him was 20 (as I am right now), when so many people would be encouraging him to spend his money on himself, and to not worry about giving whilst still a poor student...
Alemayu: a kidnapped child in Ethiopia returned to his family. Part 1. Part 2.
Running a Marathon: I also follow this nice lady's blog. She also astounds me in what she's doing: running a marathon (26.2 miles!!) to raise money for a home for orphaned and abandoned street children in. Honduras. Also if yoa browse around her site and follow links, you'll find out about her parents journey to adopt a chinese girl, who they literally brought home last month I think. Sooooo amazing what God is doing in people's lives don't you think?
Apart from the stories, these posts have also caught my attention recently:
David Livingstone's Birthday - "I never made a sacrifice"
'Gendercide' - War on Baby Girls: by Albert Mohler who I believe is the president of the Southern Baptist Seminary or something along those lines...in America? Anyhow he's a pretty sound guy from what I can gather and this article is pretty shocking.
Tim Challies reviews 'Son of Hamas': Tim Challies is in the process of reading and reviewing on this blog, every book that makes it onto the New York Times Non-fiction bestseller list this year. Here he reviews the autobiography of the son of one of the founders of Hamas (Islamic Palastinian Terrorist Group so google tells me) who then spent years working as a double agent, spying on the Hamas group for the Israeli government, during which time he became a Christian.
Perhaps most aptly for this post, Spurgeon, on a real reason to weep.
