i SEW can't wait for next year!

:P

I bought a sewing machine!

Which I both love and am mighty pleased with.
Having been working non-stop since it arrived, today was my first chance to really give it a whirl. Sew last night, I had a mammoth tidy-up of my room, completely finished unpacking post-Belgium, and figured out how to thread it up.

This morning I toddled off to Trago Mills, bought a book about quilting, lots of exciting "equipment" like a cutting board, graph paper, rotary knife, quilting hoop, chalk pencils and FABRIC. Although I already had some lovely bits from Percy's Haberdashery in Newton Abbot which is loooovely. :)

And sew i set to making a patchwork cushion cover. Next year I hope we're going to make QUILTS in our house. Last year it was onesies:

(BEFORE primark started selling them... we so should have patented this idea)
i love these girls!

But anyway, seven hours and two twilight films later and check it out:

I'm quite pleased with it for a first effort, and i like the materials although they don't really go with my room these days. The piping the book told me to use looks good but is kind of unecessary and made sewing everything together harder, but hey.

All in all, sewing machine = win. :)
