French Chansons Friday: Le Roi Dans Sa Splendeur

You'll maybe already know this one in english, I'll put the 'used' english translation up with it, rather than my regular Friday made up prattle :)

Le roi dans sa splendeur, vêtu de majesté
The splendour of the King, clothed in majesty,
La terre se réjouit
Let all the earth rejoice
Il est paré d'éclat, la nuit essaie de fuir
He wraps himself in light, and darkness tries to hide
Au son de sa voix
And trembles at his voice

O Dieu, tu es grand!
How great is our God
Nous chantons : O Dieu, tu es grand!
Sing with me how great is our God!
Et tous verront, O Dieu...
And all will see how great
Combien tu es grand!
How great is our God.

Car d'âge en âge Il règne, les temps sont dans sa main,
And age to age he stands, and time is in his hands,
Commencement et fin
Beginning and the end
Le Père, le Fils, L'Esprit, trinité divine.
The Godhead three in one, Father, Spirit, Son,
Le lion et l'agneau.
The lion and the lamb

Le plus grand des noms, digne de louange.
Name above all names, Worthy of all praise,
   Mon cœur s'écrie : « O Dieu, tu es grand ».
My heart will sing: How great is our God.

I sang this at the front of church a few months ago with some of the other jeunes from church. And we sang it at the 'être témoins' soirée last weekend. It reminds me, along with 'The Lord is gracious and compassionate', of New Leaders Training 2008. Sadly there is but one, not great, video of the french version on youtube, but here is Chris Tomlin in english:

Having been reading 1 Chronicles 16 with IFES team as well.... How great is our God!! :)
