A very lovely few days away...

I'm back home in Devon for the summer now, it's quite nice really to not have loads of plans andto therefore be able to decide at the last minute to do different things and meet up with people, and break up the holidays with doing fun stuff, and chilling at home...reading books, watching films.... and preparing for next year.

So this last week, my parents were booked to go on holiday to Shrewsbury as my Dad had a preaching engagement up there at the church of some old friends, and they'd decided to take their "camper" as mum likes to call it, and make a week of it. So I was home alone as of last Wednesday which was quite nice... I got to be quite domesticated really doing my washing, pegging it out and actually ironing it too!!

I met up with Marie on Friday and we went into Exeter, bought and exchanged birthday presents (she gave me two gorgeous pairs of earrings that I love!) and had lunch by the cathedral.

Then on Sunday, I headed up to London after church in the morning, on the train, to stay with some friends at Matt's house in order to get to Wimbledon on Monday morning! It was the first time I've ever been to Wimbledon, and to be honest.. well I've enjoyed watching the tennis here and there but never been a massive fan... all that has changed though!

We arrived at the gates to Wimbledon at 7.15am, queued for a mere 5 hours, (in the sunshine fortunately) and headed straight over to court 3... the best court you can get onto for the basic grounds pass ticket price. We even saw Rolf Harris as we queued up...he had a tent where he was steaching local school kids to draw/paint... and at the end of the day we saw none other than Sir Trevor McDonald. I was pretty star struck.... I don;t think I've ever been that close, to that famous of a person before. Obviously... I knowtheres nothing particularly special about someone famous... they're no better or worse than myself. But I'm only human... and it was a very bizarre experience!

Speaking of famous people... Michael Jackson died last night... or I found out last night...via someone's facebook status. It is a shocking thing I think... because espcially for someone who is such an A-List celebrity as him... you kind of think that they'll always be there I think? Anyway, it is sad that he's had such a strange life and all the controversy around him, I hope people will leave him and his family be now.

More on my past few days... Tuesday we headed into London itself... went to Southbank and saw one pretty rubbish street performing show... and one amaaaaaaaazing one with these african guys doing acrobatic tricks and stuff. One of them stck his legs behind his head and was carried around in a bowl by the others. Ben took a video so when it's online I'll post it on here... it was ASTOUNDING. lol!

We then went on to check out St Paul's Cathedral, which was really not what I was expecting actually... I thought it was right on the banks of the thames but it's not...surrounded by buildings! Still...

Then we went over the Covent Garden cus me and Becca had tickets to see the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre. So we wandered around looking for somewhere to eat, OH and between there we went to Knightsbridge and to Harrods too. :D That was fun... I got my Dad some coffee for Father's Day... more for the novelty of it being from Harrods than anything else. (and some ties from primark lol) :) cheap and cheerful! So we munched down on some salad outside a nice little cafe called Amy's Deli I think... and whilst we ate an amazing string quartet came along and started playing so we went over to watch... they were fab... but one guy had a bit of a weird face like...he'd stare you down while you were watching. Was odd... but brilliant!

Then we posed for a few photos before me and Becca headed off to the theatre. The Lion King was amazing... we went as a joint Birthday typething, instead of getting each other presents. We were in the grand circle so we could see everything...including where the stage had holds in and how stuff came up out of it and what not. Was really cool... it was a tad annoying because...knowing the film so well means that if the actors say lines differently... it's just very annoying. They also included the song from the Lion King 2 film... he lives in you. Which is an immense song. Dear me... it was ust brilliant I'd definitely go and see it again. Almost cried a few times and reaaaaaaaaaaally wanted to stand up at the end to clap but nobody else in front of us was so...being english and a bit of a sheep... i didn't either. :(

Never mind.... we went back to Becca's in Basingstoke afterwards on the train, and I stayed there until Thursday. We met up with Matt there on Wednesday afternoon for lunch and went roun the shops and to his Grandad's and to the park. Weather was gorgeous so we had a really nice time! :) And then.... we watched the little mermaid quite late at night and I helped Becca overcome her fear of it. And Thursday we watched some tennis, played some of the OC game (mega hard) and watched some friends... then I headed back down here on the train.

SOOOOOOOOOOO there you go. I think this is more for my benefit than anyone elses really in being able to remember what happened later on. I'm enjoying making the memories :D I'm in the process of making a kind of university life scrapbook thing with lots of photos and mementoes in it...to take with me next year. Even though its all on facebook really anyway... it will be a nice thing to have, and it's a fun project to have for myself.

It's hard saying bye to people now because I never know when I'm likely to see people again... if thee'll be another random meet up at some point during the summer... or if it won't be until Christmas, or next summer, of my final year! Crazy... but I'm getting excited now. Lots to do though.... prayer letters are my frist priority now, thank you so much if you;ve asked to be sent them, I really appreciate your support.

The next big event I've got now I guess is... my birthday on Sunday... 20...arghh! and also... Bridge and Adam's wedding next weekend.. so I don't know exactly everyone I'll see from uni there... it's a bit open-ended. But... that will be lovely...can't wait to see my fabulous housemates again and marry another one of them off!! haha!

Anyway... time to go and do something a little more productive than this!! Thanks for reading if you have done... or looking at the pictures... or whatever.

Much love xx
