Rachel(le)

One of my best buddies and future housemates came to visit this last week. She's actually finished her year abroad already and stopped by Brussels for a few days on her way back to the UK, permenantly.

There was much discussion about the general weirdness of life abroad and going back to the UK. I've still got *counts on fingers* ... maybe 6 weeks left here now? (And that scares me because saying 2 months was bad enough!) I'm heading back on 23rd June anyhow.

It was super lovely to have her here, here are a few bits and pieces we got up to...

We went to Ghent! - something I've been wanting to do for a while now and it was looovely!

We used the use-it young people's tourist map to find not one, but two "local tips" and had a 3 course lunch for €6.50, as well as yummy waffles in Mokabon... the couple behind made us laugh a lot when we checked the photos back at my house! :P legends!

We went to a chocolate museum and saw a demonstration of handmade belgian chocolate being made! :) And got to try some... obviously..

Next landmark on the map: the atomium!! Who needs the Eiffel tower anyway?!

Manneken Pis was also mandatory... as was taking photos... I'm not so into looking like a tourist in my home town though. Living on the south coast of Devon has given me a bit of a complex about it... this chocolate manneken pis in Leonidas is way more impressive than the real thing anyway...

Finally, Friday night on the way home from my church's Groupe de Jeunes, we wandered through a free concert that was going on outside the Palace called 'Nuit des Lumières', celebrating anniversaries of two of the cities biggest universities: ULB (175) and VUB (70).

Othe GBU related things have been going on too, I lead a study at the central group on Wednesday which I feel I learnt quite a big lesson through doing, and there are even photos somewhere! So when I have a photo I will write up a blog about that. And then Saturday night there was a Soirée Focus, subject "Etre croyant et souffrir: c'est normal?" (Is it normal to suffer when you're a Christian). More blogs coming soon then.... :)

Thanks for reading! xx
