Finally being back in the UK, for two weeks over Christmas, is great. But I do ctually already miss speaking French a little bit. I hope I don't lose any of it.. altho i keep accidentally thinking of saying "quoi?" at the end of my sentences. (Bit of a convcersaton fillery type thing in french, like "like" in english, or more literally... "innit?" haha) .. which I'm quite pleased I've finally arrived at not only understanding, but being able to use spontaneously without thinking about it too much.
Anyway, to make up for my lack of french at the moment, here's a video of a song we sing in church sometimes that i do like very much. Not so much this version but it was the best I could find, and sorry bout the odd animal slideshow.
Lyrics (in french, with my own probably too literal translations):
C'est auprès de Dieu
It's near to God
Que je veux me tenir.
That I want to be kept
Il est mon Seigneur, mon Roi.
He is my Lord, my King,
C'est auprès de Dieu
It's near to God
Que je peux ressentir,
That I want to feel
Tout l'amour qu'il a pour moi.
All the love that he has for me
C'est auprès de Dieu
It's near to God
Que je voudrais grandir,
That I want to grow
Entendre le son de sa voix.
Hearing the sound of his voice.
Je viens, je viens devant le trône,
I come, I come before his throne
Par ta grâce je me tiens en ta présence.
By your grace, I bring myself into your presence
Je lève, les yeux vers le lieu saint,
I lift my eyes to the holy place
Pour contempler ta face,
To look at your face
Je veux rester près de toi.
I want to stay close to you.
I like it because I can understand it even when I'm singing it. And it's got a niiiice tune too. bonus. :)

Those words are amazing, I love that.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it neat when you learn a song in another language and can sing it wholeheartedly?
I was blessed with the song "Te Doy Gloria" when we went to Mexico. I can now sing it knowing all the words--it's so good. :)
I pray you have a blessed Christmas!
