Soirées and St Nicholas

Last night there was a soirée GENOVAISE that I went to, at a friend from church's house. I didn't quite understand, even when it was explained, what it was in aid of. In Geneva they commemorate a day when they beat some people trying to invade... maybe the pope(?) ... by pouring soup over the walls so they fell off their ladders. That is what I understood anyway... who knows if it is accurate.

Anyhows all we were told was to go in fancy dress... anything we liked... and take vegetables for a traditional geneva soup! :) Random. But super fun!

Here was me before I went out... thank you dear wellsy for the cowgirl idea. I was still clueless of what to go as just a few hours before so... :)

haha i'm so lame... and yes, that is a (clean) teatowel i tied around my neck for a neckerchiefy thing. My colocataire has the same computer as me, and taught me on friday night (when she and her friends randomly knocked on my door at like 23h30 to ask me if i wanted to have a "petite verre" with them) how to take pictures with the webcam. Super excitement! Here is this mornings addition too...

Today is St Nicholas!! I still don't fully understand this either. But hey.. 6th December. Kids get their toy type presents. in their shoes?! And then christmas, it's the more "useful" kind of presents apparently. Anyhow... lovely team leaders got me and lucy some st nicholas gifts (from HEMA woooop!) and here they are... in my shoes... this very morning! :) A lovely big Santa (or st nicholas) speculoos (gingery biscuity thing), and a chocolate 'M' (for Miriam!)
